Ed’s Piece June 2008
Having the opportunity to see what your rigs and line lay actually looks like when out there in the pond, in an angling situation, is quite an exciting yet very nerve-racking experience. Out of our mini team of staff I put myself forward: “Find a spot, tell me what you think the bottom is like and then cast out and let me know when you’re happy with it,” Rob Hughes told me. I found a spot, got a ‘donk’ off the lead, and the line sank perfectly. So how did I fair? Rubbish! and but turning to page 27 you can read all about it along with some more shocking truths – like your leadcore being eight-inches off the deck and your rigs tangling on the cast… Don’t panic just yet – we’ve also get solutions to these ‘minor’ problems.
Elsewhere in the magazine, James Anderson (P78) tries out four of Nutrabaits finest foods in The Tank Tests, and once again proves that the flavour pineapple is the one for “turning carp on”. He also reveals the one that they really can’t stop eating…
Talking of Nutrabaits, we’ve just taken over their Nutrabaits News (P88) pages, which prior to us has been in another magazine for the last 20 years… With a fresh new look, more tips, hints, edges, facts and news, there’s more than enough to fulfil your bait “fix” each month, starting right now.
Also this month, exceptional knowledge and wisdom from two young guys in The Rotary Letter (P63) – Gaz Fareham and Joe Morgan, whilst Sharpy (P34) takes on a completely unknown lake to him and Myles Gascoyne (P41) shows you how to catch on the stuff we spod in each weekend – hemp and pellets. And when your head is totally at exploding point, you can always cool down by looking at our latest fitty (P126).
You’ll notice there’s no Celebrity Cricket Fishing this month, but don’t fret, it will be back from the next issue – as will the Jason Hayward floater fishing trick article which was scheduled for this edition.
     Enjoy the issue…

Wondered why Hughesy was necking the water so much – going to the toilet isn’t going to be quick in that suit. Turns out you wee yourself to keep you warm. Nice.

Had a dangle over at CEMEX Angling’s Ringland Lake in Norfolk with Sharpy. Quite possibly the carpiest lake around. Page 34.
