10 Things I Love By Dave Lane
From 1 to 10, what are Dave's favourite bits about carp fishing?
1. Socials
You just can’t beat a get-together with a load of mates on the bank—a nice barbeque and a load of cold beer… it’s the perfect combination.
2. Fire
Since man first rubbed two sticks together, fire has fascinated us all. Add it to carp fishing in the wild and you have the perfect situation.
3. Floater fishing
That moment of explosion as the hook hits home is the best buzz of the lot for me. I love my floater fishing and look forward to it each year.
4. Inlet pipes
The influx of new water drives carp mad. I have caught scores of fish from new inlet pipes or floodwater. Can you see a mid-forty common lurking?
5. Weather
Big pressure drops, wind changes, storms, and big summer easterlies. There are so many weather changes that can get my pulse racing.
6. Sleeping under the stars
There is something so right about being close to nature. Sleeping in the open is one of the best ways to feel part of your surroundings and not like an intruder.
7. My mozzie net
I have used these for years now, and they are amazing. I can sleep out in the summer months in just shorts and laugh at all the biting insects lining up outside.
8. Fishing off-piste
I love setting up in the woods or having long grass brushing the sides of the bedchair. It’s a different world to gravel trap swims or woodchip nightmares.
9. Boat fishing
One of my favourite ways to angle. You can learn so much more about the topography of a lake and the habits of the carp by using a boat.
10. Bankside cooking
Bankside cooking is a passion for me. Whether the Cobb or barbeque, I always live like a King on the bank—I sometimes cook a roast dinner on a Sunday!
