A bivvy for a lifetime

SONIK’s XTI 1 Man: enough room to keep you warm and dry in the worst weather, whilst adapting to the conditions in the warmer months

If you’re going to lay down some serious cash for a bivvy, it should be one you’ll be using all year round: not just for spring and summer, but autumn and winter alike. This incredible new offering from SONIK is one such home. So what makes it so special? First, it comes from a brand-new sub-brand from SONIK. XTI is a new range of top-end products, from beds and chairs to bivvy and bags, all which have been designed to take comfort and protection on the bank in all weathers to a new level; setting a new benchmark for performance, functionality and long-term durability, and all at a realistic price tag that we’ve come to know and love from SONIK.

The XTI 1 Man is based around a sturdy, wide-gauge, black powder coated aluminium three rib/four pole system with extended peak

Getting its first test night this month from the collection is the XTI 1 Man Bivvy: a bankside home has been created to be an all-conquering, all-protecting shelter. Starting with the exterior, it’s manufactured from SONIK’s new super-tough ‘Armatek’ fabric which is both breathable and fully waterproof, with a mind-blowing rating of over 20,000 Hydrostatic Head.

The fully removable zip-out front panel features heavy-duty black mozzi-mesh panels and windows with zip-down blinds.

Come the summer, you can simply remove the front panel and open up the rear vents

The actual bivvy is based around a sturdy, wide-gauge, black powder coated aluminium three rib/four pole system with an extended peak and is designed to provide rock steady anchorage in all conditions. At the front and rear you’ll find windows and vents to keep you cool during those long, balmy summer days – all of which are opened (including the multiple door system, but more on that shortly) by heavy-duty zips which all feature SONIK’s ‘easy-grip’ pullers. Along with four XTI Velcro rod retaining straps, there’s also reinforced webbing pegging points with large stainless steel D-rings for the supplied pegs to fit in to.

If all that’s not enough – and quite frankly it should be – the inside is pretty damn awesome, too. Along with a 350g heavy-duty groundsheet with elastic pegging points, there’s a clip-in vapour shield which eliminates condensation whilst maximising internal space. Upfront there’s a fully removable zip-out front panel, which features heavy-duty black (which look great) mozzi-mesh panels and windows with zip-down blinds. The dual zipped doors allow you to create a letterbox style opening and it also comes supplied with a removable clear PVC window.

Along with pegs, groundsheet and a heavy-duty zipped carry case, the XTI comes with a frame support system

The question is not can you afford to buy this bivvy, but can you afford not to?
