It’s okay, CARPology sympathises. You want a top-end rod performance without the eye-watering price tag. A rod which casts well, feels even better during a battle, and looks deliciously good on the buzz bars. But rods like that don’t exist without a two-zero-zero behind the pound sign, right? But there may be another way. Advanta. Their V2 of the CSX rod really is something special and ticks all of those boxes, including the one your missus/bank manager really care about: price.
This updated version carries many hallmarks of a rod twice - actually make that three times its price. Built on one of the slimmest blanks we’ve seen at this price point – a super slim, reinforced 24T carbon blank – the CSX V2 also has a multi-layered structure to maximise its high power to diameter ratio.

The lightest and shortest model in the collection, 10ft 3lb, is a more progressive fish playing rod, whilst the brute of the pack, the 12ft 3.5lb, is designed to accurately cast big leads and PVA bags to extreme distances. Going back to that 10ft version, not only does this cutdown length vastly improve casting accuracy, giving more control in confined swims, but it’s also ideal for boat anglers where shorter casting distance is required.
