Avid Carp Thermafast Sleeping Bags

Avid’s new sleeping bags keep the elements at arm’s length

Packed with technical details to allow you to crawl in, zip up in, and get toastie quickly, the new Avid Thermafast sleeping bags promise to do exactly what they say on the tin. There are two models, each available in Standard or XL sizes, plus a matching cover, in this comprehensive range that’s designed to keep low temperatures and moisture at bay.

The Big Questions

What’s the Thermafast range got to offer?
Well, there are two bags - a four-season and a modular five-season version - plus a matching cover for extra warmth or to use as a standalone throw on warm summer nights.

What’s the difference between the Thermafast 4 and the Thermafast 5?
The former is a standard four-season bag, while the latter has removable layers. Called Comfort Control, this system boasts two zip-out layers which can be removed in summer, or reversed depending on what you prefer to sleep on, either fleece or peachskin.

What’s so good about these bags then? How do they differ to every other bag on the market…
Both are stuffed with an advanced hollow-fibre filling (it’s denser in the 5) and both have a lovely fleece inner and soft-touch polyester bottom. The outer shells of both bags are made from a windproof, water-resistant peachskin that’s also breathable, so it’s technical stuff designed to keep you warm and comfortable.

Will it stay in place?
Both sleeping bags have retaining hoods at each end and a security strap in the middle, keeping them in place on your bedchair. They also have an internal pillow pocket in the hood, internal and external
draught baffles and 10mm heavy-duty crash zips.

Will they fit my bedchair?
The Thermafast 4 and 5 come in Standard and XL sizes, with the latter designed for wider bedchairs. The standard is 210cm by 90cm, while its bigger brother is 220cm by 100cm. And both come supplied with a water-proof stuff sack.
£109.99 and £169.99. Cover, £74.99
