Must try spod mixes
We dish up some fancy new twists on standard run-of-the-mill hemp-based spod mixes. Here’s how to make your carp food more appealing than the guy next-door…
1. The mini 'bits' mix
Hemp, 3mm halibut pellets and some fresh casters.
Differs: Although hemp and mini pellets is a known combo, adding casters is a nice twist.
Hookbait: Enterprise Tackle’s Fake Casters.
2. The natural spod mix
Hempseed, casters and CC Moore’s Frozen Bloodworm.
Differs: The casters and bloodworm go together like cheese on toast. A real natural mix.
Hookbait: Keep with the Fake Casters from Enterprise, fished Hair rig style.
3. The crunchy spod mix
Hemp, crushed hemp, CC Moore’s Water Snails and casters.
Differs: This mix is made up of mini shells which crunch when the carp feed on them – something they really love.
Hookbait: Enterprises’ Fake casters or hemp.
4. The sugary, sweet combo
Hemp, crushed peanut, CC Moore’s Milkimin Pellets and fresh sweetcorn.
Differs: The Milkimin Pellets are like mini Milky Bars and when mixed with the corn, they add a nice flash of colour.
Hookbait: A single piece of fake corn.
5. The growler combo mix
Hemp, crushed tiger nut, mini tigers and a handful of standard tigers nuts.
Differs: It offers up different sized tigers, along with the crushed version which keeps them rooting for ages.
Hookbait: A balanced tiger.
6. The stinky spod mix
Hemp, salmon fry crumb, 3mm pellets, grated Belachan and Liquid Belachan (both CC Moore).
Differs: The addition of the grated Belachan is a massive edge.
Hookbait: A CC Moore Boosted Belachan Hookbait.
7. The jet black mix
Hemp, Dynamite’s Amino Black Groundbait, salmon fry crumb and CC Moore’s Steeped Black Tiger Nuts.
Differs: It works perfectly on pressured venues as the mix blends in nicely.
Hookbait: A Black Tiger Nut.
8. The chopped worm slop
Hemp, salmon fry crumb, 3mm pellets, casters and chopped worm - deadly!
Differs: Chopped worm and caster is amazing. Mix in the mini pellets and crumb and you’ve got a winner.
Hookbait: A couple of fake casters.
