Ben Wales: Get 'Em Grubbing Mix!

If you like to get the fish feeding on small food items as you fish for a bite at a time, then Ben Wales’ mix might just be for you.

“My angling generally involves fishing for a bite at a time on pressured, low-stock venues, so my mix needs to be quite subtle,” says Ben Wales. “The aim is to keep them guessing at every opportunity. Carp can be very cautious, especially when they’re under pressure, so mixing the size and type of bait will improve their confidence as they feed. A balanced tiger nut or whittled-down bottom bait are perfect for the hook, and these will complement the mix. The fish become preoccupied with the plethora of items in the mix, and such hookbaits will blend in. The Manilla range, with its refined peanut protein and nut flours, also complements this mix, and Sticky’s Bloodworm Pellets—which need no introduction—ooze attraction!”

What you need:
l Manilla Active Boilies (whole and crushed)
l Cloudy Manilla Liquid
l Hemp
l Chopped tiger nuts
l Bloodworm Pellets (4mm and 6mm)
l 2.3mm Manilla Pellets
l Sweetcorn

HOW TO MAKE IT:
1. Crush and chop boilies and place in a bucket

2. Add hemp and crushed tiger nuts

3. Drain some corn and add a few handfuls to the mix for flecks of colour
