CarpLounge RT4 Bait Boat

When you think of German engineering, you think class, reliable and quality, and their bait boats are no different

Although not everyone’s cup of tea, bait boats can be a huge advantage in angling. From laying a subtle little trap and placing an almighty feast on a spot, to creeping along a tree-line and tucking one under a bush to reaching unimaginable distances with conventional casting, you can be fishing accurately, quickly and efficiently with minimal disturbance. So if you are going to use one, then why not use the Mercedes or Avid of bait boats in the form of the RT4?

The big questions

It looks the part, but what’s so special?
By ordering direct through the user-friendly carplounge.de you can customise the boat to your exact needs. There is a choice of different motors to suit your needs, different GPS systems and echo sounders, battery power – even remote controls. You really can tailor the boat to your liking.

Sounds awesome… and expensive. I don’t think I could afford or justify that layout all at once!
It is and you are not wrong but the beauty of Carp Lounge’s bait boats is that the optional extras can be added/fitted at anytime. All new boats also come with a 3-year warranty and no matter where you are in Europe, Carp Lounge will look to have your boat collected, repaired and returned within 6 to 8 days.

So how much are we talking?
The basic RT4 model retails for £1,019.15, but just like when you’re buying a Mac off the Apple website, you can add on additional bolt-ons or enhanced performance extras, such as a more powerful remote control system, engine, fishfinder or echo-sounder, there’s even a ‘Matt Black’ Design edition option. Or: if you want to go the other way, you can opt for the ‘Do It Yourself’ package. £662.15 buys you the raw boat and then this, along with any extras you purchase, can be assembled by yourself.

What kind of features are standard then?
Two batteries, one main which has a 8km running time and a back-up which has 3km in it so whilst one is charging you can still get your rods back out on the spots with no worries of the boat being stranded. As standard, the motors are protected by a weed guard system that allows you to drive over lily pads, weed, even your own line without the worry of the boat becoming jammed and clogged. The massive amount of LED lights are fully adjustable to your suit your needs but are also colour coded so that it’s easy to tell which way the boat is facing even at range in the dark.

So how good are these boats?
Functionality-wise: outstanding. Performance-wise: faultless. Customer service-wise: exceptional. They really are the new king vessels ruling our waters.
