Century C2-D Spod and Marker rods

Soon after completion of the groundbreaking C2-D 13ft long-range rod, it quickly became apparent to rod building maestros, Century, that they were going to need to add a 13ft spod and marker set-up to the range which would be capable of delivering bait and feature finding at the same huge distances that you could now present your hookbait at.

“I would like to glamourise the story by saying that the task of putting together a high-quality, long-range spod rod was a long, painful and gruelling task, but being totally honest, it really just wasn’t,” states Century Media Manager, Dave Springall. Why? Because they had the existing 12ft Spodding Machine: a great performer and firm customer favourite and this gave Century a really solid starting point from which to develop these rods.

The blank itself is slightly lower diameter and lighter than the original 12ft version due to the inclusion of some updated and slightly tweaked materials. The unground finish has been replaced with a stunning PTFE coated, anti-scratch 1-k-1k twill weave and matching custom ALPS reel seat, black aluminium butt cap, 50mm to 16mm Century SiC ring set and laser-etched cosmetics that match the C2-D carp rods to perfection.

Functionally the rod is designed to be used with the medium-sized bait rockets such as the Midi Spomb at big distances with ease. It will of course handle bigger, heavier loads if needs be, but the medium-sized bait rockets really do work the best at range. The use of the latest version of their unique ATT (Anti Twist Technology) in the tip section construction serves to deliver unparalleled accuracy, which alongside its long-range performance, really is the standout feature of this rod. It really has to be used to be believed just how accurate this rod is, even in strong crosswinds on big pits.

The C2-D Marker Feature Finder is of a very similar action to the C2-D Spodding Machine with added power in the tip to aid recovery when using leads of 5ozs and to improve overall ‘feel’ of the lakebed when using braided main lines. This rod in particular is a real beast and both are easily capable of hitting huge distances with great accuracy in the right hands.
