Changing the rules
Break the mould of semi-stiff coated hooklink materials with Rig Marole unique and groundbreaking HydroLink
When Rig Marole’s HydroLink debuted in 2004, it redefined the hooklink market. Where previously all strippable materials worked the same – and were fished the same (think: an eight-inch hooklink with the last inch stripped back) – HydroLink did the opposite – and did the job in hand better. Their new concept in hooklink materials incorporated a Dyneema outer with a fluorocarbon (the company’s awesome CamoH2o) inner that can be stripped out to give stiff, fast sinking combi rig presentations. It opened up a whole new world of rig-related opportunities.
During the past decade, Rig Marole have launched a smaller sibling version – HydroLink Micro – a scaled down version which has a 2lb inner so the material reacts more like a mono/semi-supple hooklink in water. They’ve made it available in Black, Grey, Sand and Camo, and since Rig Marole consultant Nigel Sharp has got his hands on a spool, we’ve witnessed the birth of the ‘NS Rig’ (it stands for ‘No Shit’) – a rig which the Sharpanator claims to be the ultimate margin rig.
Removing the fluorocarbon inner
The process of tying up a rig is the reverse to that of a coated braid, and whilst it may seem odd at first – pulling back the braid to remove a length of fluorocarbon – you’ll soon discover there’s a whole rig box of opportunities awaiting you. Available in 15 and 25lb BS.
