Complete safety

Combining carp safety with efficiency is what Rig Marole’s Freefall Lead Clips are all about

Splendidly, these aren’t just “another lead clip”. What Rig Marole created way back in 2006 when they launched The Freefall Lead Clips, wasn’t just something which worked in a totally different way, but something which really can only be classed as the ultimate safety clip.

The big questions

Hang on, it looks like any other lead clip…
It certainly does when it’s set-up and ready to be cast out, but if you take a closer look at the actual clip you’ll see it’s very different. Unlike other clips, Freefall Lead Clips have been designed to eject from the line, not the lead from the clip, and this means it’ll 100% eject every time on contact with weed and snags, making it the safest clip around.

Clever. It doesn’t look like it’s made from plastic…
Good spot. They’re cast from a strong alloy lead, making them perfect for extreme-range casting – i.e. the arm will never snap like it can on plastic moulded ones.

So how easy are they to set-up?
Very simple: feed the slot of the clip onto the leader, pull the swivel inside the clip, locking into place and then push the tail rubber over the end as tight as possible. On snagging, the lead and clip will simply pull off, leaving a free line to play the fish.

A lead clip with a difference. Not only are they cast from alloy lead, but they fix to your main line in a totally different way

Do they come in different colours?
The lead clips don’t, but the soft tail rubbers which are compatible come in two sizes: Standard and Micro and in the following colours: Green, Black, Mud Brown and Light Brown.

And what do they retail for?
A packet of eight clips retails for £3.99 and the Tail Rubbers (both sizes) are £2.99 for ten. rigmarole.co.uk
