ESP 25K Quilted Waterproofs

The new kiddie on the block to keep you warm...

Years ago, there were plenty of materials to protect you from harsh weather, but they all came with trade-offs. Waxed cotton was heavy. Vinyl could drown you in your own sweat. Down is extremely warm and comfortable but once it gets wet, it’s heating power is gone. And it takes forever to dry. But then came ESP’s 25K Grade Fabric. 25K stands for 25,000 millimetres and is derived from lab test measurements for waterproof fabrics. A container is sealed at the base with fabric and filled with water until the material begins to leak. The only higher grade fabric is Gore-Tex which has a 28K rating. So yeah, it’s good, bloody darn good.

The three-piece collection - Jacket, Trousers and Salopettes - is all you need in epic weather conditions. The trim cut means it doesn’t feel like a tent, and along with its crazy waterproof exterior is a 10,000g breathability rating so when you start overheating thanks to the insulated soft ‘waffle’ lining you won’t drown in sweat.

Smart warming features on the Jacket include a peaked adjustable hood, high collar and dual baffle on the zips. The Salopettes comes with water-resistant side access and boot zips. And the Trousers have zipped hand-warmer/security pockets and easy-on boot zips.

While it pretty much matches Gore-Tex in performance, it betters it at price point: The Jacket and Trousers retail for £149.00 and the Salopettes at £109.00.
