La Loubiere...Not Your Typical French Holiday Lake

La Loubiere will be unknown to the majority of UK anglers having opened for fishing for the first time in 25 years in 2020. At 37 acres La Loubere is a large expanse of water which is home to some huge carp, with the lake record a massive 74lbs. Seven swims have been created, 5 of which are double swims and 2 are single. Each swim has been very carefully thought out to ensure there is plenty of water coverage for each angler.
The lake is packed full of features and the best way to find these is by using a boat and echo sounder which can be hired from the lake owner. La Loubiere is not a lake for beginners to carp fishing and it is not just another commercial pay lake packed full of carp. If you are an experienced carp angler, looking for a lake similar to the large public waters, but with all the privacy of a holiday venue, then La Loubiere is the place. What is the history of La Loubiere?
Go back 30 years to the 1990s La Loubiere when it was a public lake and it would have been buzzing with a hive of activity from the local French residents who would use it for sunbathing, picnics, swimming and various water leisure activities.
In 2005 the lake and surrounding land was purchased by a wealthy local chateau owner and the lake was left untouched until 2020, when the lake was purchased by a French fish farmer and carp angler. Since purchasing the lake the existing carp stock has been supplemented with new carp, bringing the total number of carp in the lake to around 600. The average weight as of December 2021 was 35lbs.
Fish stock
The lake was originally stocked with carp well over 30 years ago and these fish have grown to considerable size. The current owner has added to the original stock to create a lake that rivals the very best in France. As of today the lake's largest resident is a colossal mirror carp which was last caught at 74lbs. There are 6 carp over the 60lbs barrier, at least twenty carp greater than 50lbs and a staggering 50 carp over the 40lb mark. The current average weight is 35lbs. Due to the excellent water quality and the high quality bait used on the lake, the fish are rapidly gaining weight. It won’t be long until the average weight is over 40lbs!
Facilities
As you enter the grounds of the lake through the farm, which is just a short walk from the lake, there is a shower, toilet and wash block. There are also fridge freezers for food and bait and electricity points for charging your electrical equipment. Local shops and amenities are a ten minute drive away, but if you don’t fancy cooking delicious fresh bread, pastries, kebabs and pizzas can be delivered daily.

Located in Central France, just south of Bourges, La Loubiere is approximately 6 hours drive from Calais.
