Re-spool your reels
How to re-spool your reels
To save time, strip your old line off using a Berkley Line Stripper.
However, make sure you leave some backing on the reel like so.
Soak your fresh new main line in water a good 12hrs before applying it.
Always fit the reel to the rod butt. Then thread the tag end of your old line through the butt eye.
Now attach your new line* and then wind the line under light tension through a damp cloth.
After winding 5-10 turns, stop and check for line twist – if the line is running straight, continue loading.
If the line is twisted around the butt ring then turn the spool the other way up before continue reeling.
Continue reeling at a steady speed until the line is just on the lip of the spool.
This is the ideal amount to ensure smooth, accurate casting. Now get out there!
