Fishguard? It’s a town in Wales, right? Well, yes, but does this look like the Rough Guide to Wales? No, in this case, it’s a new company who have your security right at the heart of everything they do. They’ve created a comprehensive bankside security system that’s been designed to alert you to anyone sneaking around your swim, or wherever you choose to set-up the trip beams. The system is superbly versatile and reliable and we can see it being a hit with anglers who are security conscious on the bank. Here’s what you need to know…

How does it work then?
Well, this weather-proof, wireless security system consists of two carefully calibrated sensors, which are positioned to cover the area that you want to keep an eye on (or two areas), and a control unit, which you keep with you in the bivvy. Should a person wander into your swim, breaking one of the invisible trip beams the remote control unit triggers an audible response and kicks in a 24-led floodlight, which bathes the swim, and intruder in light! Now, the audible alerts, designed to wake you up and deter an intruder can be set to either a dog bark or a dog growl, and should you want something more subtle, then there’s a lifelike owl hoot setting.
I’m with you, but I don’t want my swim to light up like Blackpool…
We did say that the system was versatile… You can literally have it your way – both the volume and security light brightness are adjustable, and you can even have the security light fully off if you want, relying on that subtle owl hoot alone if you want to know someone’s about without alerting them to the fact.

Well you probably don’t want your mate from next-door getting the full-on security light and dog bark treatment when he fancies a social brew, right (or maybe you do!). Anyway, switching the control unit to emit a doorbell sound when the trip beams are broken (no lightshow) is far more civilised when you just want to stop your mates from being able to sneak up on you!
What about range?
Well, it’s a bit of a beast actually. Seamless instantaneous communication between all units within 30m range, with a max range of 100m. The sensors themselves can detect movement at distances of up to 6m.
Any other features?
Yep. Should you want it, you can set the lighting unit to detect when you’re up and about and give off an ambient glow (they call it low-level ambient lighting), casting a subtle glow across the swim, illuminating the rods. Now, the clever bit about this is that it operates totally independent of the security system. What happens is that the light unit itself will pick up your movement as you leave the bivvy and emit a helpful light, so you can work out where your headtorch disappeared to this time…
That bush won’t set it off if the wind gets up then?
Nope, they’ve cracked that. They’ve installed proven technology that actively eliminates false triggers, which
is a bloody relief because you’d be up and down like a fiddler’s elbow otherwise!
