Fox Camo Supa Brolly System

The original Supa Brolly launched to rave (and we mean rave) reviews a little while back, and those cunning chaps at Fox have been refining it ever since. When the time was right, they graced us with the MKII, and now they’ve upped the bar again, with a camo Supa Brolly! We reckon that a good 50% of the carpers out there get a bit giddy when camo comes into the equation, and we’re no exception, as long as the camo in question is juuust right. “So,” you ask, “Is it?”

The big questions

What’s the big deal about this camo anyway?
No off-the-peg pattern this one, it’s quite literally been designed by the Fox team, so you won’t find it copied by anyone else across the carp world. It’s got a DPM vibe that will appeal to the image-conscious hardcore, but it’s that little bit unique too; in case you’re worried about being branded a clone! We really like the richness of the pattern so top marks to the Fox team as it’s a fine line to tread when designing a camo bivvy… it’s so easy to end up overdoing it!

Quality build?
Absolutely. It starts with the thick, Ventec material that Fox has chosen to skin the bivvy with. It’s a hardwearing polyester that will stand up to being set-up and packed down thousands of times, all the while keeping you in the dry. Speaking of which, the seams are fully taped, to eliminate annoying drips, and the frame is made from robust, flexible 8mm fibreglass, which takes some breaking!

Hit me with some nice features…
We don’t quite know where to start… there’s loads! Rear mozzi-mesh air vents perhaps? What about three different door options? Or the super-clever Self-Tensioning System that gives you loads more headroom than you ever thought possible with a brolly (plus, you’ll never bang your head on the central pole again…). We love the fact that the guys have brought the rear spokes down to the ground, giving the Supa Brolly MKII plenty of touch points, making it more stable than the competition. Little touches like the drainpipe system that sends water away down the flanks of the shelter, rather than dripping off the front are genius too! It’s the kind of product that you’ll still be finding cool stuff on months after you first use it!

Do I get plenty of coverage? It is just a brolly after all…
The footprint is big for a brolly. Of course, that’s largely because it’s a 60-incher, rather than the usual 50 or 55. (Insert cliché about a couple of inches making all the difference…) Joking aside, those few inches do make for a wholly more comfortable existence, especially if you’re staying bankside for a few days.

Tell me there are extras?
Happily, there are loads. Buy a Supa Brolly MKII and you’ll get extra fibreglass front rib support (it provides more stability and helps drainage by creating an apex point at the front), two 24-inch storm poles, and two 36-inch storm poles, a looped locking collar for hanging essentials off the ceiling, pegs, a heavy-duty groundsheet, carry bag and neoprene protective sock.

What about the dollar?
Well, it’s not the cheapest brolly on the market. But, and it’s a big but, we think that it’s one of the very best. Packed with features that took some real research and design time and loaded with extras as standard.
