Front Runner

We are continually surprised by the value of Cygnet’s line-up of kit. The quality of their first bivvy—the Cyclone—is exceptional given its sub-£300 price

Cygnet’s first offering to the bivvy division is squarely aimed at the angler who doesn’t want to skip quality and functionality, but likes avoiding going into negative equity on their actual house to afford one. The Cyclone has a similar spreader block to its pricier step-sibling (with its blessing), but it’s made cost-cutting savings elsewhere. Said block is constructed from glass-reinforced polymer and the fabric that lays across the 9.5mm fiberglass poles is a 210D polyester fabric. These obviously contribute to the price reduction but also keep the overall weight to a minimum whilst maintaining superior strength and protection from gastly weather.

On the subject of weight, the 100 size, which is optimal for one bedchair and your kit, weighs in at just 8.5kg—inclusive of infill panel, groundsheet, storm poles and pegs!

If you require more space, then opt for the 150 model, which retails for £349.99. ‘Skull Caps’ are also available for both sizes and these offer an extra layer of insulation against condensation and the incoming colder weather.
