Carbon! Whilst it’s always been lightweight and strong, cheap it hasn’t. But that’s now all changed thanks to Gardner and their full-on, work-of-art, Pro-Pela Carbon Throwing Stick
It’s a fair bet that, if it comes out of Gardner, it’ll be pretty damn awesome. And this new stick from the Surrey-based tackle mega makers of everything now means a carbon throwing stick isn’t just for the super rich. Thanks to being manufactured from a high modulus carbon and finished with a matt 3k carbon wrap which not only looks great but adds extra strength to the finished stick, it means the Pro-Pela weighs in at just 70g! As a comparison, the UK’s most popular plastic throwing stick weighs double that, coming it at a behemoth 150g.
This huuuuge reduction in weight has so many advantages. It makes baiting up with higher volumes of boilies much easier – and with less fatigue. Accuracy and range are maintained and this means that your baiting-up will simply be better, allowing you to create a highly effective spread of baits or concentrated baited areas.
Along with a shrunk rubber hand grip that is comfortable even after prolonged use and offers a non-slip grip, even when wet, the Pro-Pela will launch baits out up to 22mm in diameter.
So what’s our verdict from this morning’s baiting-up mission with the Pro-Pela, Gardner’s first ever carbon throwing stick? For under £60 you’re getting a proper, full-on carbon throwing stick which is mightily impressive. The performance was there too, along with a reinforced protective tube to ensure you get a lifetime’s use out of it.
