How to pick the right visual indicator

Confused by visual indicators? See how to pick the right one for each situation you're faced with...

01 Hanger

The choice of bobbins seems endless, small 3gm bodies to the heavyweights topping 75gms, covering everything from slack lines to ultra tight situations. Add chains or cords with add-on weights and you can see why so many people just use these as their everyday visual indicators.

02 Quiver

Quiver or tension arm indicators are primarily designed for super tight line and/or long-range angling. To get the best out of this form of indicator you need to get the tension so tight that the lead is just about to move. This is a balancing act which will come with practice.

03 Swinger

The swing arm indicator will assist when the wind gets up reducing side-to-side movement. Various styles allow everything from true slack line fishing through to distance fishing. Always best to fish with a line clip on the rod to get the best angles for indication. A good all-rounder.
