How to tie a Hinged Stiff Link

1 Here’s the items you need to tie Elliott’s ‘big fish’ pop-up presentation.

2 Whip the hook into place, making seven turns with the Mouthtrap like so.

3 Now form a loop against the Mouthtrap with the N-Trap as shown here.

4 Whip through the loop and around the Mouthtrap three times.

5 After you’ve completed this, wet and then pull the braid down tight.

6 Now do the same with the Mouthtrap, making a smaller loop like so.

7 Next you want to make two turns through that loop before tightening.

8 Wet the knots fully and then bed them together using a Pulla Tool.

9 Trim, blob and then expose 2cm of the inner braid under the knot.

10 Slide a Rig Ring onto the tag end above the hook as shown here.

11 Pass the tag back through the eye of the hook, trim, then blob.

12 You will now have a ‘D’ in place to attach your chosen pop-up to.

13 To balance the pop-up, next mould some putty around the knot like so.

14 Form a large loop nine-inches above the hook section.

15 Mould a small piece of putty onto the middle of the braid section.
