How to tie the needle knot
Safe, secure and 110% reliable - here's how you tie it to connect your leadcore leader to your main line
To start, pull back the outer-coating of the leadcore and remove about two-inches of the lead inner.
Now take your splicing needle and insert it where the lead starts and push it up the outer-coating.
With the needle coming out of the end of the outer-coating, take a lighter and seal the frayed ends.
Next, create a loop at the end of your main line and attach it to the hook on the gate of the splicing needle.
With the line attached in the needle gate, pull the splicing needle back through the outer-coating.
You will now be left with the line running with the leadcore. Next create an overhand loop.
Take the line and wrap it through the loop you’ve just created four times as shown here.
Wet the knot thoroughly before you tease the knot down together, before fully ‘bedding’ it down.
Make sure you take your time and bed the knot correctly and neatly. Neat, tidy and most of all, SAFE!
