Icey-Tek Cool Boxes
No-nonsense Aussie cooling options for your food and bait
No-one does cooling like Australians. Having a warm beer is almost a criminal offence Down Under, so it’s no surprise to learn that these ultra-rugged coolboxes hail from that part of the world. Icey-Tek was set-up in 2006 and offers a huge range of cooling options for us outdoorsy types. Here’s five reasons to pick one…
That Range
From 25 litres up to a massive 185, there’s an Icey-Tek box for all needs. They can be purchased in cube shapes or more elongated trunk-style boxes. Most anglers will plump for the carpy green colour, but if you’re feeling daring there are plenty of other hues on offer.
Cooling For Days
Packed with ice or ice packs, these superbly insulated boxes can keep your food or bait frozen for up to three days, or chilled for up to 10. All without electricity! Those figures relate to the 185-litre version, but even the little 25-litre box offers two days and five days respectively.
The Technology
These boxes are all made with an A-grade polyethylene external skin and a non-staining, non-odour-absorbing, impact-resistant internal liner. They keep your perishables cool thanks to polyurethane insulation injected under pressure into the wall and lid cavities. Those lids are also sealed with a rubber gasket to keep air out.
Rugged Durability
As you’d expect from an Australian cooler, the Icey-Tek range is proper solid. All boxes are lockable with a padlock if required, the long versions have plastic-coated rope handles at each end and the cube boxes have finger grips under the lid. These boxes just scream solidity from every angle.
Cool Boxes Are Cool
In fishing cultures in other parts of the world, your choice of cooler makes a statement about you. We seem to be a bit slow on the uptake in Britain, but Icey-Tek might be about to change all that. Buy one and it could even make you money in the long run. Not convinced? Just check out the prices of vintage coolers on eBay!
