JRC Extreme TX Brolly System

Not only is JRC’s newest brolly system cheaper, lighter and more feature-packed than the competition, it’ll also go up quicker than an F1 pit stop (obvs we’re exaggerating a tad)

CARPology has been inseparable from JRC’s bankside homes ever since it was old enough to go night fishing. From the original STi (the brand’s first pram hood from way back in 2003) and Quad (the world’s most comfortable long-stay home) to their 20000mm HH Hydra-Tex (one of the world’s most waterproof materials) to their new-for-2016 Extreme TX Brolly System, they’ve been doling up award-winning shelters one after another for 20-plus-years now.

Following in the very successful footsteps of the 2015-launched TX Bivvy, JRC have taken all those amazing fabrics (think: that 20000mm HH Hydra-Tex) and materials and moulded, shaped and tweaked them into one seriously impressive brolly system that not only has the finest features, a mass of space within a tiny footprint, but even the accessories are smart too.

Thanks to the space-saving frame, it has a million miles of headspace and is wide enough to house that Wide Boy bed you insist is “essential”. It’s a twin skin system without an overwrap and that’s thanks to the unique condensation guard which simply toggles in. The supplied storm poles feature magnetic connectors, meaning set-up times are faster than F1 pit stops. And the External Rain Guard System, taped seams all over and big mozzy vents with PVC window option keeps the rain out.

And whilst almost £300 isn’t exactly couch-cushion change, the TX Brolly offers extreme value for money. Similar style shelters – with less features – retail for upwards of £100.00 more, and this comes complete with heavy-duty pegs and zipped carry bag.
