Kodex Ready-Tied Rigs

You’d never use a rig that someone else tied, right? Well, you just might have to think again!

Such is the quality of ready-tied rigs these days, that should you not want to tie your own, there are loads of good options that are every bit as good (who are we kidding? They’re better than yours!). The Kodex range of ready-tieds are particularly comprehensive, including Chods, braided rigs, fluorocarbon rigs, PVA bag rigs and the in-vogue Multi Rig. In fact, if you can get over the stigma of chucking out a rig that you haven’t tied, then you should really fill your tackle bag with these little beauties.

Kodex’s range of ready-tieds is mega comprehensive, including Chods, braided rigs, fluorocarbon rigs, PVA bag rigs and the in-vogue Multi Rig

The big questions

I’m pretty handy with my rig tying; you can’t seriously be telling me that they’re better?
Well, actually, yes! The people tying these rigs tie more in a day than you do all year! As a consequence the dimensions of each rig, their knots and attention to detail are spot-on. What really struck us about the Kodex ready-tied range is the consistency and neatness of the finished product. No scruffy knots here; they’re all perfectly executed and carefully tightened down to perfection. You might not be able to tie the perfect Grinner or Palomar, but you know what? These guys can, so perhaps it’s time that you trusted them a bit more!

The Multi Rig comes with a spare Chod hook, a spare size-11 ring swivel and some bait floss

What about the components? Can I trust them?
Absolutely, these are the same bits that the team of consultants at Kodex rely on for their fishing; we’re talking about stuff like the highly rated Genomic hooks, which feature the trademark Kodex MGP (micro-ground point), which to you and us means that they’re criminally sharp! Other components, such as the Micro Strip coated braid, fluorocarbon and supple braid have been carefully chosen to suit each presentation.

All the rigs feature the trademark Kodex MGP (micro-ground point) hooks which means that they’re mega sharp!

If you had to pick one?
It’s the Multi Rig for us, all day long. It’s perfect for use over most lakebed types, and in light weed too. The coated braid (Kodex Micro-Strip) that it’s tied with is stiff enough to kick the rig away from the lead on the cast, while also supple enough to lie well over bottom debris. The appeal of the Kodex ready-tied Multi Rig doesn’t begin and end with its effectiveness as a hooker of carp, far from it. As a further inducement, the chaps have included a spare Genomic Chod hook with each packet (so you can change hook size) and a spare size-11 ring swivel so you can use the rigs with helicopter set-ups as well as lead clips.

Anti-Tangle Sleeves ensure the rigs are tangle-free

Which rigs can I get my hands on then?
Okay, so the full range includes Chod Rigs (Long and Short), versatile braided rigs (which they pitch as suitable for bottom baits and pop-ups), 3.5-inch braided rigs that have been made specially for PVA bagging, stiff fluorocarbon rigs, coated braid rigs, and of course, the Multis. As you might expect, Kodex have developed a decent range of each, to ensure that you’re covered for all situations.

Each and everyone is beautifully tied

Ready-tied rigs are expensive though, aren’t they?
Thankfully, no. When you consider that Kodex supplies two rigs per pack, as well as spare swivels (and hooks in the case of the Multi Rigs), they suddenly look remarkably decent value. Throw in the time saved by having the convenience of a rig wallet brimming with perfectly tied presentations, and you start to understand that this range is well worth getting over your prejudices for!
