Making life easier

Gardner has a strong heritage when it comes to producing functional and affordable products, and they’ve not let themselves down this month

1. Pro-Pela Carbon Throwing Stick

Everything Gardner claims the Pro-Pela does, it does. That handle? Yeah, the shrunk rubber hand grip is super comfortable, and does offer a non-slip grip even when wet. It’s faultless performance? It’s super lightweight, which means more accuracy and greater overall distances achieved. And that price tag? Thanks to retailing for just £59.99, it means, for the first time, that carbon throwing sticks aren’t just for CARPology’s millionaire subscribers.

2. Deluxe Method Bowl

All the needs of bait storage and mixing are here: the high diameter/high capacity/round shape (it’ll hold a massive 28lts) design means you can easily knock up large amount of bait, and then keep it moist thanks to the full zip lid. It’s pretty hardy too, being made from a strong PVC coated material which is easy to clean, lightweight and darn tough.

“GIMME”: £17.99

3. Scorpion Bait Pouch

One of the best baiting up tools has to be the humble bait pouch, particularly when using a throwing stick. It allows you to get into a rhythm which naturally improves accuracy. Gardner’s new Scorpion Pouch holds over 2kgs of bait, has a removable liner which is useful for keeping different baits separate, plus features an elasticated catapult attachment.
It’s also great for holding bits and bobs whilst on a stalking session.

4. Retention Sling

Along with the usual large soft mesh panels that allow excellent water exchange and a long retaining cord (4m) for secure attachment to a standard bankstick, this retention sling comes with ‘solid’ upper panels at the top of each side to reduce light penetration, helping to keep the fish calm; hi-vis reflective bands to highlight the position of the sling in low light and at night; and thanks to measuring 130 long x 60cm deep, it’s large enough for even the world’s largest behemoths.
