New from Wychwood Tackle

Wychwood have built on existing product ranges and developed some new ones as part of their impressive 2019 launch

Wychwood are masters of blending slick looks with matching performance, and it seems they have pulled off that trick time after time with these new additions. There’s something for everyone in these new products. There are rods for all budgets and angling scenarios, plus a host of camo-fringed bankside furniture on which to make yourself comfortable. Even the innovative Tactical Carp Tarp has been given a makeover with a new bigger version.

Maximiser, Extremis and FLTR rods

This trio of rods with very different prices and features is led by the Maximiser. These 3.5lb-test-curve flagships start at £199.99 and boast a fast recovery for distance casting, yet retain a pleasing playing action. The 12ft 9ins version offers a little extra casting oomph.

The mid-priced Extremis (£89.99) comes in full cork or duplon options and look like a much more expensive offering than the RRP suggests. All the rods are 12ft and they offer 3lb, 3.25lb and 3.5lb test curves.

The FLTR (that’s ‘floater’ without the vowels) is the perfect tool for hazy summer days chasing basking carp. Available in 10 or 12ft versions at £49.99 and £54.99, these 2.25lb-test-curve tools are very nicely balanced and lightweight with a lovely through action for maximum enjoyment when doing battle. Cork handles and hook keeper rings set them off perfectly.

XL Tactical Carp Tarp

Made from the sumptuous rip-stop fabric used on Wychwood’s MHR shelters (Fig. E), this bigger Carp Tarp is the ultimate emergency shelter. It can be propped up on a storm pole to create the simplest and lightest of bivvies, or can be used as a barrow cover, bedchair throw or even a groundsheet. This newer version is 285cm by 185cm.

Tactical X Flatbeds

Lined with a camo outer for that trademark Wychwood look (Fig. F), these lightweight flatbeds blend comfort with practicality. There are three sizes, each constructed with an aluminium frame to keep weight down. As the name suggests, they lie flat, and all three have a fleece-lined mattress, padded pillow, adjustable legs and large hinges to accommodate a sleeping bag.

Tactical X Chairs

Wychwood have launched four new chairs for 2019, all with strong steel frames and that distinctive camo border. Coming in at just 3.5kg is the Compact (Fig. G), which has adjustable front legs and padding where you need it. If you want a bit more luxury, then the Standard (Fig. H) has a completely padded frame, a higher backrest that also reclines, and adjustable legs on all four corners. It weighs in at 5.5kg.
Two armchair versions complete the range. The Low Arm-Chair (Fig. I) is just 5kg despite its extra features and, as the name suggests, keeps you lower to the ground. If a more throne-like position is what you’d prefer then the High Arm-Chair (Fig. J) is the daddy of the range. Unlike its lower brother, this one has a reclining back rest and taller legs for easy access if mobility is an issue.
Compact £44.99
Standard £59.99
Low Arm-Chair £64.99
High Arm-Chair £79.99
