European Adaptive Carp Championships
In August 2023 we are hosting the European Adaptive Carp Championships, a 48hr event for carp anglers with physical disabilities from across Europe.
In early 2022 myself and Reflection Angling discussed the requirements for a top tier fishing competition in the UK to allow disabled anglers to showcase their talents on an international level at one of the best waters in the country. This came about after noticing that adaptive anglers didn’t have the same level of events as non disabled anglers.
So in August 2023 we are hosting the first ever European Adaptive Carp Championships at linear fisheries in Oxfordshire. It is a 48 hour long event for carp anglers with physical disabilities from across Europe with an estimated 40 teams plus support staff turning up.
This event gives the teams 36 hours of competitive fishing on one of the nation’s top disabled accessable waters with the chance of bagging multiple carp up to 40lbs in size and a magical 50lb beauty calling that lake home as well.
During the event we will be opening up the taster lake to the public for taster sessions run by The Angling Trust and on Saturday we have multiple talks taking place but some of the top anglers from companies such as Nash and Parker baits. Teams will also be having a social on the Saturday afternoon which will give them plenty of time to restock at the large trade village and meet fellow anglers from across Europe.
The confirmed dates and venue are: 4-6 Aug 2023, Oxlease Lake at Linear fisheries.
Everyone who is involved in making this happen event a possibility is so excited about it, not just because it’s the first of its kind but because it’s bringing anglers from different backgrounds together. We have match anglers pairing up alongside carp anglers and we even have some float anglers wanting to get involved. This goes to show that you don’t have to use traditional carp tactics to enter an event like this.
We are supper keen to hear from anybody who wants to register or has questions regarding the event.
