Nick Helleur's Summer Stick Mix
Nick shares his recipe for a warm-weather Stick mix...
The key to a great Stick mix is its texture and consistency, as well as the attractors within it. Large items have no place in a Stick mix, as you need to be able to thread the Sticks onto a rig without impaling the hook. What I create looks useless to begin with, like lumpy builders’ sand, perhaps, but give it 24hrs and you will see a massive difference. By then, it will have become fluffy and light, but will compact and break up easily. Come summer, the fish will have been battered on bright hookbaits, and in my book, a dull offering, such as a piece of Peperami, combined with a super-attractive Stick mix will outscore any fluoro.
What you need:
l Krill Powder
l Pure Salmon Oil
l Bloodworm Active Mix
l Liver Powder
l GLM Powder
l Krill Pellets (2.3mm)
HOW TO MAKE IT:
1. Add equal volumes of Bloodworm Active Mix and Krill Powder to a bucket.
2. Add a good helping of GLM Powder.
3. Followed by the same amount of Liver Powder.
4. Grab a handful of 2.3mm pellets and add these to the mix.
5. Add Pure Salmon Oil slowly until the mix resembles wet sharp sand.
6. Place in a bag and leave for 24hrs before use.
