Prologic K3 Bite Alarms

Prologic has rewritten the bite-alarm design manual with this distinctive body

Looking like no other bite alarm that has gone before, the K3 grabs you with its thousand-yard stare and blank front panel. It looks menacing, in the best possible way. This alarm is the culmination of a two-year gestation period which saw the K3 go through a number of tweaks and revisions before its launch. Prologic, who now have the super-analytical mind of consultant Adam Penning to call on, wanted to create a “compact, waterproof alarm with unrivalled battery life while remaining feature packed and pleasing on the eye”. It seems they’ve pulled it off.

The looks speak for themselves, and remind us of a certain superhero, but the features include four volume levels, five sensitivity settings and a 150-metre receiver range. Cleverly, there’s also a temporary Silent Mode that gives you 30 seconds to set your bobbins without irritating the rest of the lake.

That eye-catching body boasts a high-grade aluminum base, and a case that blends machine-cut 3K carbon and high-strength nylon. The result is a tiny head that’s lightweight and durable.

A vast battery life is also one of the main selling points of these alarms, and that’s achieved in part by doing away with tone adjustment. That move has allowed Prologic’s engineers to fit a smaller, less power-hungry speaker.

The heads come with protective covers, are available with Yellow, Green, Red, Blue, White or Purple LEDs, and the alarms are available on their own or in three or four-rod kits with a receiver.
