Return of a legend

Once upon a time, in a carp scene not so far away from this one, if you were using a coated braid, the chances were that it’d be a Sufix one. Well, newsflash, they’re back!

There was always far more to the Sufix range than simply coated braids of course, including some awesome monofilament main lines, like Synergy, or braids such as Matrix Pro. Now, while the brand might have disappeared from the limelight somewhat in recent years on these shores, they’ve still been consistently developing products right at the cutting edge to suit a worldwide customer base and, believe us, they’re still kind of a big deal when it comes to lines! So, 2017 is the year that they’ve chosen to reacquaint themselves with the UK market, so you’d better believe that you’ll be seeing plenty of Sufix kit in the hands of some very accomplished anglers. Let’s take a look at some of the star performers… sufix.com

1. Gyro Braid

This is a cracking all-round braided main line, that’s been treated to a special camo finish to keep your presence concealed from tricky old carp. Sufix has applied a banded camo pattern with different tonal finishes that alternate every 20-30cm, helping to break up the outline of the braid rather effectively. It almost goes without saying, but Gyro is super low-stretch and thin too, thanks to its special Gyro-twist construction. A winner.
“GIMME”: From £13.99

2. 832 Advanced Superline

This is right at the top of the tree for you braid users. It’s an out-and-out performance braid that’s whisker thin, and as such, can be cast terrifying distances. The special construction of the braid allows it to be so thin, yet incredibly abrasion resistant. It’s made from eight fibres (seven Dyneema and one Gore fibre), which combine to produce a line that’s got zero-stretch and bags of durability. What’s more, it comes in a low-viz green or camo finish too.
“GIMME”: £27.99 for 250m

3. Superior Leader

This is a top-notch mono leader material that does everything that you’d expect of it. It’s clear, which makes for excellent disguise in all water conditions, and its copolymer make-up gives a line that’s got that all-important high strength-to-weight ratio. In other words, you can give it a proper whack and it’ll absorb the shock, then fly miles because of its relatively thin diameter. Handy. Superior comes on 100m spools and is available in a load of different breaking strains.
“GIMME”: £13.99 for 100m

4. Super 21

This fluorocarbon jumps out as being quite the perfect material to create both boom sections for your Hinge Rigs, or low-viz leaders for use with braided main lines. The way that it’s created (it’s a high-viscosity nylon, that’s subjected to an advanced tempering production) leads to a mono that’s not only very difficult to pick out in the water, but one that’s also supremely low-stretch, which is a huuuge edge, however you decide to employ it!
“GIMME”: £12.99 for 150m
