Avid Carp Lok Down Bankware

Avid’s new range of bankware has an innovative locking mechanism to keep everything rock solid

Built around super-strong high-grade aluminium, the new range of banksticks and accessories from Avid is attractive in its own right, but it’s the new Lok Down Cam element which is the most interesting feature.

Unlike a traditional cam used to keep extending banksticks from collapsing, this new design grips the whole inner tube making for a rock-solid foundation. The clasps are super-durable and easily operated, even with cold hands, so there will be no more frustrating subsidence or slowly retracting banksticks!

The range features a stage stand, a bankstick stabiliser, fixed buzzer bars, varying lengths of bankstick and two different-sized storm poles. Those storm poles, which come in 36ins and 48ins lengths, have a 19mm diameter and will be especially handy for anglers who have suffered with cheap versions that aren’t up to the job of providing rigidity and support to brollies and shelters.

Avid unveiled this latest range at a show this spring and the response from anglers and the trade was very positive. The new cam does exactly what it is supposed to do, but the rest of the design has not been neglected. The aluminium construction keeps these sticks, bars and accessories light but tough, and the general construction seems absolutely spot-on.

With a hard-wearing black finish and great looks, this is a bankware package that will find its way into the rucksacks of many carpers.

How it works: Traditional cams pinch the inner bankstick at just one point, but the Lok Down range applies pressure to the entire surface. In addition, an internal rubber collar increases grip strength when the cam is locked down.
