It might sound painful, but it’s a pretty cool gadget that allows you to make round baits from loads of different foodstuffs!
It’s not very often that we see something that’s so bizarre, so totally weird, that we have to sit up and take notice. The Bell Ball Cutter did just that though. Here is a product that literally opens up a world of baits that you (and, let’s be frank, most other anglers) never knew existed. For instance, have you ever tried mushroom hookbaits? No, us neither, but now we can. Actually, anything that the Ball Cutter can bite into (and believe us, it’s sharp) can be turned into round boilie-like baits. Next time you’re in the supermarket, look around you – you might stumble upon a bait that’s a little bit special!

What can I use with these then?
You’re literally only limited by your imagination! Imagine a foodstuff the consistency of cheese, or potato – if the Ball Cutter can carve it, then you’re in! Most fruits, processed meats, vegetables and a multiplicity of pastes can be turned into perfectly round baits. Our personally favourite? It’s got to be luncheon meat or chorizo, ‘balled’ out using the 10mm Ball Cutter and coupled with a bread Stick bag: the ultimate winter food package in our eyes.
What other sizes do they do?
Okay, so the experimenting doesn’t stop with bait type – you can do a whole host of sizes too. The guys make the ball cutters in eight sizes, from 10 to 25mm, which we reckon pretty much covers you for all your carping needs. Should you want all of the cutters, you’re in luck, because they make a presentation set which holds all eight.
How does it work then?
You simply push the cylindrical part firmly into your chosen bait then spin the handle to turn the cutting circle, which cuts the individual bait. Pop the cutter back out and hey presto: you’ve got a perfectly round bait.
How should I use the baits?
Well, depending on the consistency, the baits can be Hair-rigged or side-hooked, to suit your preferred presentation. Cut a few freebies, scatter them around your hookbait and wait for those curious carp to come to investigate what might be a totally new smell to them!
Are they going to take up much space?
Nope. The good news is that they’ll slot into your tackle box alongside your baiting needles and bits. If you opt for the presentation set, then that’s still pretty compact, and can be tucked into your carryall without adding much weight
