Chub Vantage Bivvy

With Chub’s Vantage, versatility and ventilation!

The primary design point of a fishing shelter used to be a simple need to keep you dry, although the needs and expectations of the modern-day angler are now far greater. Today’s bivvies must not only be strong and of course waterproof, but they must also offer a comfortable bankside space. A mini home-from-home with a versatility capable of maintaining this comfort during cold winter nights, as well as the hottest days of summer – plus anything else Mother Nature decides to throw in the mix along the way. Some bivvies try and some shelters fail in supplying some of these rudiments, but one that certainly succeeds in covering all the bases is the Vantage Bivvy from Chub.

Simple in design and utilising the reliable ‘pram-hood’ style, the black aluminium poles with quick release joints and secure collars used in the Vantage fit together smoothly for a speedy set-up. Quick to put up and quick to bring down – the first aspect of versatility safely secured. With the bivvy erected and cam-lock tension bars in place, you’re pleasantly greeted with a large usable space, without the bivvy being the size of a house. This is due to the split pole design, where the front and middle ribs are separated at the base, and gives you the space to easily accommodate a bigger, wide-boy style bedchair, along with a practical layout of your kit and luggage.

The Vantage then really takes bivvy versatility to another level with a multitude of different set-up options due to the interchangeable front panels and door system. The door can be zipped down from the top letterbox style to offer protection from the elements while providing a clear view of your swim. Fans of this set-up will then really like the way you can zip down the whole front panel to the ground or partly for a letterbox view to gain maximum air ventilation. This means that although the front panel can be zipped out completely, you don’t actually need to for a fully open bivvy – brilliant for variable conditions and quickly zipping back up during a summer shower.

To keep out unwanted insects, the front panel also features ‘rip-stop’ mozzy panels which can easily be replaced with clear window panels. Bivvy ventilation is then also a highlight at the rear of the Vantage with the unique Backdraft System, where the mozzy panel can be zipped down to provide a clear flow of air.

With an overwrap made from the same superbly waterproof and breathable Chub Climatex material this bivvy is set to take on every weather condition, regardless of the time of year. Whether you’re fishing a night, a week, at home or abroad, the Chub Vantage does it all and does it very well! “GIMME”: 1-Man, £439.99; 2-Man, £479.99; chubfishing.com
