Chub Vantage Sleeping Bag

Chub want you to stay warm out there this autumn, so they’ve brought you a super-warm bag to prove it. Nice folks that they are…

Thanks to the Chub Vantage, it’s now possible to get a proper all-season bag for under £100. Now, don’t think for a second that Chub has skimped on features to bring the bag in at that price, because the Vantage is packed with ‘em. In fact, we say bag, but we really should say ‘bags’ because Chub makes a standard and wide version, to suit those with a larger bedchair. Let’s take a look at five features you’ll love.

A combination of insulated and waterproof materials make the Vantage an outstanding choice

1. Quality materials

Okay, so we’re talking peachskin breathable, waterproof shell material, and silicone-treated hollow fibre fill for outstanding insulation. That combo will keep you dry, by stopping dew, condensation or rain from penetrating, as well as allowing sweat to wick out of the bag, and super-warm too, thanks to a fleece-lined top layer and polyester-lined lower layer. If you need to upgrade the thermal properties of the bag, perhaps if you’re literally going to the Arctic, then simply chuck over the Vantage Thermal Bed Cover.

Chub’s Konnect-3 Attachment System keeps the bag fixed

2. When you roll, it won’t!

Chub’s Konnect-3 Attachment System (basically three special quick-release straps that help to keep the bag on the bed) allows you to move freely, but keep the bag exactly where you want it at the same time. The base layer inside is lined with smooth polyester too, which won’t grab you as you roll inside like fleece would.

Internal hand grips keeps the cold out!

3. It’s the end of cold toes!

Now, we’ve all struggled to keep our toes warm in the very coldest weather. Well struggle no more as the end is in sight. Chub calls it the Hotfoot System. Basically, the foot end of the bag can be bunched up by means of a drawstring, pulling the bag in tight and close to the feet, warming them up much more effectively.

The Vantage is available in two sizes: Standard and Wide

4. Make a quick exit

Second only to keeping you warm, a bag has to easily disgorge you into the elements when you get a bite. That’s why the Chub team chose chunky crash zips, with large internal baffles, that won’t catch when you fling the bag aside to get to that screamer. It’s a no-brainer, but a feature that cost-cutting companies often drop.

5. Get a grip

Perhaps one of the more unique features of the bed are the internal hand grips that allow you to pull the neck of the bag nice and tight around you. Why bother? Well, on those extra-cold nights, you really don’t want gaps just above your shoulders, which let that hard-won hot air out. These cure that problem nicely.
