It all looks lovely, but how does it differ to any other shelter on the market?
Fair call - it does look very similar to many other pram-hood style shelters on the market - and whilst there are a number of lovely features, the biggest gem is the price. Cyprinus grows its business on its reputation for outstanding value and this lightweight home echoes that thanks to its £79.99 price tag!
Blimey, that is cheap - so does that mean it’s going to clasp/leak/snap on its first outing?
Most definitely not. It’s made from the same lightweight yet super-reliable 210D polyester fabric which Cyprinus use for the bulk of their bivvies - and remember these guys have been churning out bankside homes for almost a decade. This stuff is seriously waterproof too – 6000mm hydrostatic head waterproof – so when the summer showers arrive – which they will – you should have zero concerns about getting wet. This is then supported by two 16mm black 6061 aluminium poles which are damn strong but lightweight – and because there’s only two poles, you can be set-up or packed-down in seconds.

We guarantee your next question will be: “How the hell can they afford to offer all that?!” Included in that £79.99 price is the following: PU groundsheet, elasticated pegging points, a full set of Cyprinus pegs, a full frame support system, Velcro rod straps, a rear vent to keep you super cool on those long, hot summer nights, and it’s all finished off with some lovely rubberised SKS Zip Pulls.
Woah! How the hell can they…! So what’s its footprint like - will I be able to get a bed inside it?
Obvs. If you’re thinking wideboy style bed, then maybe think again, but for any normal sized models, you’ve got zero worries. Measuring an impressive 140(H) x 290(W) x 150(D)cm, you’ll also find there’s plenty of room for your rucksack, bait bag and other bits.
Is that an overwrap I can see?
Well spotted. Yes, there’s an overwrap available which then turns the Day Shelter into a full-blown bivvy. This too had Velcro rod straps and comes complete with a full set of pegs.
Do I really need one though?
As ridiculous as this sounds (and of course we’re joking) - but at £79.99 it’s almost a throwaway summer shelter. If this is the summer when you plan to do just short session and want to spend the maximum time fishing and the minimum time setting up/breaking down, the Pleasure Dome 1 Man Day Shelter is for you (and you’ll keep the missus exceptionally happy). It really does check all the boxes: cheap, reliable, functional and feature-packed. Cyprinus, we love you!
