One of the true titans of the tackle world, Daiwa’s position in fishing’s leading pack means there’s plenty of expectation when they lift the lid on a raft of new items. If our first impressions of this lot are anything to go by, it looks like that expectation has instantly translated into excitement.
Infinity X45 10ft models
It wouldn’t be a Daiwa launch without some form of Infinity product. There have been 10ft Infinities before (under the Evo sub-brand) but now they’re part of the main range and boast distinctive Alps ARD reel seats and SeaGuide TDG rings. Other Daiwa wizardry includes X45 and HVF carbon tech, plus their Magnum Taper and V-Joint features.
Vertice Carp
This new brand in the Daiwa line up is a step up from its ever-popular Black Widow budget range, yet remains keenly priced. There are 10ft, 12ft and 13ft models, each with a high-modulus blank, Fuji DPS reel seat, 50mm butt guide and a shrink-wrap handle with flared butt.
Crosscast X rods
Following the successful introduction of Crosscast rods that mirror the quality and price of the reels with the same name, Daiwa have expanded the range with the Crosscast X roster. You get a high-modulus carbon blank with 1k reinforcement, a Sea Guide reel seat and stainless-steel guides in an attractive package.
Black Widow Low Level 3 Rod Pod
Cheap rod pods look nasty and blow over if you sneeze, right? If that’s the case then someone should really tell Daiwa, because the Black Widow Low Level 3 Rod Pod smashes all those preconceptions. Made from aluminium with brass inserts, it looks a steal at £52.99.
Winter Carp Suit
Offering plenty of protection from savage winter conditions, this two-piece ensemble comprises a quilted jacket with a lined hood plus a bib and brace. It boasts magnetic pocket closure, waterproof zips and the critical seams are taped for added water protection. It’ll cost £179.99 and sizes go up to XXXXL, which is good news for bigger carpers.
Hybrid Chest Waders
A mix of a breathable material and neoprene, these two-tone waders will keep you dry without producing sauna-like conditions for your legs in the warmer months. There’s a front zipped pocket and adjustable waist belt too. They come in UK sizes 7 to 12.
Ultra Carp Jacket
This stylish padded jacket wouldn’t look out of place beyond the lake-dwelling world we inhabit but it’s primarily designed to be a comfortable over layer to keep you warm inside your bivvy in winter. Don’t expect it to repel all the elements, but do expect to look good!
Carp Camo T-Shirt
Daiwa’s commitment to upping their carp-clothing game in 2022 is clear to see, and this on-trend T-shirt is part of that drive. Blending subtle camo patterns with muted browns on a green base, it looks spot on to us. It’s pre-shrunk and made from 100 percent combed cotton.
Carp Camo Hoodie
Offering the same style as the T-shirt but in comfortable hoodie form, this item is sure to be popular. The blend of 80 percent cotton and 20 percent polyester gives it a softness and pliability for comfort and ease of movement.
