'Dotcom Value'!

Big on features, low on price: welcome to Cyprinus Carp Technology and the Magnetix 60” Brolly…

Everyone loves a bargain, right? Yeah, bargains are great… Well, right up to the point when you realise there’s a reason why you’ve just paid a budget price and said item either blows-up, burns out or falls to pieces.

So okay, you’ve bought the ‘Chinese speaking’ Sat-Nav down the pub, learnt your lesson and you’re now just a tad sceptical of the “amazingly low prices” statement, but… we’re just about to change all that by reinstalling your buying confidence and showing you that great deals do exist, as we take a look at an ‘under-the-radar’ company and a fishing shelter with a difference: the Magnetix Brolly from Cyprinus Carp Technology.

The Big Questions...

Cyprinus who?
Yep, we thought you might be asking that question. Cyprinus isn’t a brand that you’ll be familiar with when wandering about your local tackle shop and the reason for this is quite simple: they don’t retail or distribute via shops and stores. Instead, Cyprinus is a UK company which uses many of the same factories used by other tackle manufacturers, but they trade directly to you, the customer, through their website and on-line shop. This in turn reduces subsequent retail costs, meaning Cyprinus can pass on this saving to their customers with realistic and competitive pricing.

That makes sense. So go on then, tell me about the brolly?
The Magnetix 60” Brolly is built on an eight-rib design which have been positioned to allow for a central rib to improve the water run-off and prevent an annoying stream of doorway drips on a rainy day. Along with this small-but-extremely-important tweak, water is also ‘beaded away’ quickly and easily thanks to the super-waterproof Hydro-Tec material used to cover the brolly system.

Brolly system? What does that mean?
Quite a lot actually! Fundamentally the Magnetix Brolly is a lightweight shelter (7kgs), much like any traditional brolly but has the versatility to be set-up either to your personal preference or in the way that best suits your fishing situation and the time of year. The brolly can be set-up as an open-fronted shelter or have the infill panel supplied simply zipped on which also provides a conventional zip-up doorway. Elasticated toggles then allow one or both sides of the door to be rolled back. The door itself includes a zip-in panel that can be rolled-up to create a mozzie mesh door for insect protection and increased air circulation. Encounter a rainy spell and this door panel can be changed to a zip-in clear waterproof panel.

Sounds cool – any other features?
Just a few. The brolly comes with heavy-duty pegs and groundsheet, plus four black powder-coated storm poles with magnetic-link tops which basically creates a quick and easy connection between the pole and brolly ribs that also increases stability. Your rods can be secured against the front of the brolly via two Velcro rod straps located either side of the door. And once the Magnetix Brolly system is up, extra headroom is created via the locking space-saver boss.

Space-saver boss? What’s all that about?
Basically it’s the central locking mechanism that you push upwards onto a short pole to secure the ribs in place and erect the shelter. In this case, the length of the central pole and small cross member ribs are much shorter (approximately five-inches) meaning you can push your bedchair right to the back of the bivvy as the headroom and usable space within the brolly is dramatically increased.

I’m liking the sound of this – anything else I should know about?
That pretty much covers the design and spec of the brolly, but yes, there is one other thing. There is also a full overwrap available for the Magnetix Brolly that can either be purchased separately or in a ‘combo-deal’ with the brolly. This creates a warmer twin-skin shelter that’s less susceptible to condensation. Oh, and just like the shelter, the overwrap is again made from Hydro-Tec fabric featuring an impressive hydrostatic head of over 10,000mm/H20 (mbar) – so basically super-waterproof.

This sounds like the absolute tits! Go on, how much…?
You’re really going to love this bit: the Magnetix 60” Brolly System retails for just £89.99 with the Magnetix Overwrap coming in at a measly £79.99! Interested? Then head to: cyprinus.co.uk right now.
