Fortis Eyewear Vistas

Our favourite sunglasses brand, Fortis, pulls all its next-gen technology and design into one awesomely stunning package – and it’s called Vistas

Having shifted tens of thousands of pairs of sunglasses since its 2013 birth, the Fortis brand has been a runaway success story, and the 2016 Vistas model is the new flagship in their range.

At the heart of the Vistas is the very latest in tech, and that starts with the brand-new Triple X lenses, designed to provide extra clarity, extra definition and extra protection. Clarity is bettered thanks to the ultra thin lens: the thinner it is, the less distortion there is. Definition is improved thanks to the injection process which allows Fortis to refine the lens colour, helping eliminate blue light and aiding a more “natural vision”. And then there’s total protection against UV A, B and C.

The frames are designed on a ‘base 8 curve’ which totally eliminates unwanted sidelight – and the less light coming in through the back and sides of the lenses means the sharper and clearer view you get. And should you find yourself getting a tad hot under the collar this summer, CARPology’s pleased to tell you the 12 vents positioned both on the top and sides of the frame will greatly reduce fogging or misting of the lenses.

Thanks to a combination of a super lightweight PC material and the tail of the arms being tipped in a super comfortable rubber material, the Vistas offer not only comfort but also minimise unwanted movement of the frames.

Any old pair of polarised sunglasses is a total essential for a carp angler, it’s just some are better than others, and this latest offering from Fortis is their finest yet and offers unrivalled viewing power.

How excited are you about the new Vistas model being added to the Fortis collection?
HYPED! We’ve worked unbelievably hard on the Vistas. To finally see them being put to good use by our customers with great feedback is massively rewarding. The extra luxurious touches like the packaging, finish and stickers etc., they just ooze quality.

So how long have you been working on these and what’s so unique about them?
Probably two years believe it or not. Hundreds (literally) of CAD drawings, 3D printed prototypes and endless refinements and tweaks through rigourous testing from our team. We have invested huge amounts of effort into making sure they are the best on the market for the money, no stone has been left unturned into the manufacture of these glasses. Just picking them up and looking through them you can see the quality, they are so, so clear.

There’s a big price jump from your base-line models, such as the Flat Tops and Aviators (both £24.99) to the Vistas (£74.99) – will the jump in performance justify the extra cost?
The Vistas feature our TripleX lenses, which we actually sourced in Milan whilst visiting manufacturers. They are created using a patented injection process, which makes them ultra slim and therefore less distortion. The Triple X stands for extra clarity, extra definition and extra protection. All the attributes of an expensive glass lens, but lighter, more impact resistant and cheaper too. They are designed for the angler who spends hours wearing sunglasses, they are a real pleasure to wear and look through. Vista actually means a far-reaching mental view, and when our customers look through them, they experience just that!
