Fox Easy Shelter Camo

Looking for a super mobile, incredibly light, unbelievably easy to set-up bivvy? Fox’s Easy Shelter is clearly the answer

Back in 2000, the likes of Chillcott, Pitchers and Helleur were casting aside their bulky, weighty and timely-to-put-up pram-hood bivvies in favour of the then new Fox Evolution Shelter. It became a cult classic. But in comparison to this, Fox’s 2017 version of the Evolution, that would now be classed as heavy and time-consuming when it came to setting it up!

The easiest bivvy to set-up is one which you don’t actually have to set-up, right? That means it needs to have a pop-up frame design like the one Fox have fitted their new Easy Shelter with. Remove it from the carry bag, let go and it’s erected in seconds. Breaking it down is easy too - just twist and go. It’s compact, too: it’ll fit inside your bedchair!

The seam-taped, hardwearing 2000mm hydrostatic head rating and front peak keeps the summer and autumn showers out, but the large mozzy mesh panel at the rear lets summer breezes blow through. And when the wind really kicks up, the three support ribs and heavy-duty pegs provide enough rigidity to withstand really heavy gusts.

And almost as clever than the actual pop-up design is the solid front panel option which features three vertical toggle fixings to allow you to roll the panel up in sections and peg out further to give increased coverage when in use.

Set-up faster than an F1 pit stop (seriously)

Roughing it is for bumpkins. With Fox’s new Easy Shelter Camo, even the most mobile (think roll mat instead of a bedchair) of angler can feel at home in the wildness

If tackle design in 2015 was about making things smaller and telescopic, 2016 is all about making it even more compact and self-erecting. First came their Easy Mat (which, if you look to your right you will see is now available in camo – yeeeessss!) and now this: the Easy Shelter Camo – the perfect bankside house for the short session angler who wants something light, compact and very quick to set-up and pack away – and when we say compact, we mean it’ll-fit-inside-your-bedchair compact!

Of course the naysayers don’t have an issue when it comes to setting it up – that’s easy: remove it from the carry bag, let go and the pop-up frame design ensures it’s erected in seconds – it’s the breaking it back down part. Now whilst we can’t physically show you how simple that is here, in print, if you head over to Fox’s YouTube channel there’s a video which proves how easy it is.
