King of the pond
Crafty Catcher may have only come onto your radar in the last 12-months, but the brand packs more than 30 years of heritage into its baits – just like their ridiculously successful King Prawn
Stop a second, readers, and cast your minds back 30 years. How old were you? Were you even alive? What were you doing? Where were you fishing? Were you a completely different angler back then to now? Of course you were. 30 years is a loooong time, things change.
But one thing that hasn’t – well, very little – is Crafty Catcher’s King Prawn foodbait. And it’s no coincidence, nor luck, that it’s been racking up impressive catch reports for the past three decades. Sorry, but we’re going to have to say that again: THREE DECADES!
Coming under their ‘Retro Range’ (for obvious reasons), the King Prawn is a fine example of the magic that can happen when you piece things together in a certain way. The original recipe was a simple fishmeal base mix with an alcohol-based flavour and some shrimp meal. It caught a ton of fish from the off and continued to do so until this upgraded, 2015 version, came along and broke even more records. Today it now contains brewers yeast, krill protein concentrate, Belechan fermented shrimp, LT fishmeals, liquid foods etc., etc., etc., – all amazing carp-catching ingredients but its effectiveness comes from the levels at which they are mixed and rolled.
“It dominates lakes very quickly and is eaten again and again,” Cliff Davis, Crafty’s MD told us a few months back. “Remarkably, it put one 30lb-plus target fish on the bank three times in a 36hr session!”
King Prawn, probably the world’s most tried, tested and proven carp bait – come on, it can’t lie for 30 years – is available in both freezer form (15 and 18mm) and shelf-life (15mm), along with a Bait Booster (£5.99) and Wafters (15mm, £4.99).
