The 6 Leg Flatmate XS Flat is based on Cyprinus’s best-selling Flat-6 Bed, only this time it’s a bit wider – which of course means more comfort. The Compact LayFlat 8 Leg Aluminium is a bed that has everything. From the best components and insane amount of padding to its ultra lightweight frame. How comfortable is comfortable?
Sublimely comfortable. Starting with the Flatmate, it now offers you a wider mattress along with a new lumbar support so you don’t get sagging after six-months use. Now mix its completely flat and level design with the soft fleece inner and hardwearing outer mattress and you’re heading in the right direction for one seriously perfect night’s sleep. And then we come to the LayFlat… The extra thick mattress and side padding take care of the comfort side of things, whilst those eight legs ensure you’ve got support in every corner. Damn it’s mentally comfy!
Okay, I get it – they’re comfy! But what’s the build quality like?
Very good. Want a strong but lightweight aluminium frame? You’ve got it. A double-hinged system which will allow a sleeping bag to be packed away whilst still on the bed? Check. Adjustable legs which feature Cyprinus’s tried and tested, easy push-button mechanism? Consider it done.

What other key features should I know about?
Aside from being exceptionally quick to set-up – simply unclip, unfold and lie down – where both of these beds really excel is in their weight – the Flatmate weighs 8.9kgs whilst the LayFlat comes in at a featherweight 8kgs! For such well built beds with such large amounts of padding, those figures are very impressive.
Does this mean they’re really small then to keep the weight down?
Not in the slightest. Starting with the 6 Leg Flatmate, this measures a whopping 214(L) x 100(W)cm when open and when closed it reduces down to a fit-into-any-boot size of 78 x 100cm, whilst the LayFlat measures 206cm by 83cm.
