Loafer's Paradise
A word of warning: if you have plans that don’t involve lounging around idly for hours, avoid Solar’s Sofa Chair
Once you sink into the doughy embrace of the Sofa Chair—a piece of furniture we described as ‘The World’s Comfiest Chair’ in our video review—you won’t be leaving anytime soon.
Until previous guest chairs, the soft ‘cup’ is anchored over the armrests so there are no bars to dig into your back. That cup-shaped also means zero draughts circulating around your lower back, and the mattress features Solar’s 3D Duradore fabric, which to you and me means zilch, but to your back and bum it’s unadulterated pleasure.
The frame is hewn from the same high-tensile aluminium as the brand’s renowned bedchairs, with ‘Spring-Loc’ leg adjustment (another Solar first) delivering effortless adjustment and finished with swivelling mud feet.
Now here’s where things get even more interesting. Masses of comfort = a lot of weight and a big footprint. Not so here. The Sofa Chair weighs a diminutive 5.9kg and features compression straps to keep it closed in transit.
Obviously this isn’t going to appeal to the angler who’s travelling light, nor those with a ‘£50 guest chair’ budget. But if laying out £170 doesn’t cause you to break out into a sweat, and you know you’ll be staying put for some time, then it doesn’t get any better than this.
