Long Term Review - Nash Siren R3 Alarms
They might have been superseded by the R4s, but the R3s have been the best alarms I’ve ever used says Thom Airs. Here’s why he loves them so much...
For years I had an addiction. To collecting Steve Neville alarms. Not on the scale of some hoarders, but I still had more than I could ever use and was drawn to their exposed magnets and dinky dimensions. ¶ And then I saw the light. As great to look at as the Nevs were, upgrading to a set of Nash Siren R3s was like getting off a push bike and into a luxury car. Even their slightly quirky looks have grown on me.
Fundamentally, they just work. No matter what you throw at them or how badly you treat them, they beep when you want them to and stay silent when needed. They’re incredible on batteries, too. Which is great, because getting the relatively rare replacements is a pain if you’re caught short. My only other complaint is the illuminated hanger thingy (designed to send light down special Nash indicators) was a gimmick that never caught on. Other than that, they’ve been utterly faultless in seven years of mis-treatment, and they’re now available at under £100 if you’re in the market for some.
