Melt Away With Nash PVA
Nash Tackle’s PVA collection is best described as elegantly simple, decidedly useful. It’s a big range, covering all bases—here’s how it shapes (or melts?) up
1. Speedload PVA System
Where once solid PVA bags were only used by the likes of Ian Poole, Jon Finch and Kev Hewitt—the guys who possessed finesse when it came to tying really compact, super neat bags—in today’s world you can mimic their perfectly formed bags thanks to Nash’s Speedload PVA System. It’s the quickest and easiest solution for tying solid bags.
The system grips one of the supplied Speedload Bags whilst you add your rig and feed, with a slot to keep your main line or leader out of the way. With nothing more than a quick twist and lick to seal, you’ll have a tightly-packed bag fall onto your lap. You don’t even need to use a length of PVA tape or clump a mass of excess PVA around the neck of the lead system (which usually refuses to break down) to seal it. In short, solid PVA bagging in 2023 is now: ‘attach, fill, lick and twist’!
The system is available in three sizes: Small (55mm x 125mm); Medium: 70mm x 155mm and Large: 85mm x 180mm, and all come supplied with 20 bags.
2. Fast Melt PVA Bags
Readers of a certain vintage will be misty-eyed when it comes to Nash Tackle and their PVA bags. They’ll certainly remember those dark green bags which went by the name ‘Breakout’ from back in the early 2000s. During the past 20 years, the brand has perfected the art of producing bags which now check all of the right boxes. Extra strong to prevent splitting on impact? Check. Made from a lightly perforated film to ensure air is easily removed so the bags sink quickly? Check. Each bag is supplied with a micro coating that prevents them from sticking to each other and ensures they can be opened and filled way easier than standard solid bags—even in damp conditions where others fail? Check! Check! Check! Check! There are four sizes available to cover every application. Small (100 x 60mm), Medium (110 x 70mm), Large (130 x 100mm) and Xtra Large (220 x 60mm).
3. Webcast PVA
This collection of mesh funnel webs is Nash Tackle’s most capable and thoughtfully designed range. Available in three sizes: Super Narrow (18mm—perfect for exploding boilie sticks), Narrow (23mm, and is great for Dynamite Sticks) and Wide (37mm, which is ideal for maggot bags), they come loaded with seven-metres of 1mm all-season mesh, and along with compact loading tubes they are supplied with plungers. The lid on those tubes is particularly handly too: it’s designed to double as a filling tool to make mesh bags quicker and easier than ever.
4. Webcast Ultraweave PVA
Raise your hand if you find yourself in any of these scenarios: (1) Fishing in deep water. (2) Fishing in really hot conditions. (3) Fishing with live maggots. This unique product uses additional PVA fibres to reduce the weave to 0.2mm. This results in a finer mesh, which is particularly helpful when you find yourself faced with option 3. Unlike most meshes where maggots can escape over a relatively short period of time, with this stuff there’s no chance of that happening. Ultraweave is available in the same diameters but in 4m lengths this time.
5. PVA Foam
Nash’s chunky PVA foam is our favourite when it comes to reliability and price. It’s 100% natural and biodegradable, and each piece you hook on WILL dissolve, leaving your rig sitting perfectly primed, where you’re fishing over silt, weed or gravel.
