Nash Tackle Spod/Marker Braid

Nash have launched a coverall braid designed to cope with the rigours and demands of finding spots and baiting up

Choosing braid can be a baffling experience with so many different types, colours and diameters available. Thankfully, Nash have made it easy with their latest main line. Designed from the ground up as a spod and marker braid (hence its ‘Ronseal’ name), the only decision you will have to make is what colour to get it in.

The Spod/Marker Braid’s breaking strain is fixed at 25lb and it comes in 300m spools. That 25lb breaking strain is an ideal balance between strength and casting potential and its stated diameter is just 0.18mm, which is pretty thin for this type of work and will help you launch your marker floats and baiting rockets to the horizon. To further aid that casting experience, Nash have treated this braid to a waxed outer coating which makes it ever so slightly stiffer (though still nothing like mono) and therefore much less likely to ball up in an horrendous wind knot.

Having a nightmare with the birdlife? Then try the Hi-Viz Yellow version - plenty of anglers swear by spodding with a highly visible braid to scare the coots and ducks off.

The only toss up you will have to make is whether to plump for the Hi-Viz Yellow or the Low-Viz Green colour. The latter is definitely in keeping with a stealthy carp-fishing ethos and could even be used as a fishing line if you wished, but there are plenty of anglers who swear by spodding with a highly visible braid to scare off birdlife.
