Sleeping heaven
For the first time ever, thanks to SONIK’s new XTI Bedchairs, ultimate comfort now comes in a lightweight form
If you’re in the market for a luxurious bedchair, there’s some pretty lovely stuff on offer right now, so how do you pick? Do you opt for ultimate comfort – i.e. a minimum of six legs, a 5cm deep mattress and extra lumbar support? Or do you sacrifice the comfort and go lightweight so it’s always a “one-tripper” and not two? Fortunately, this month, these three new beds have dropped on to the shop floor and they combined comfort with lightness with affordability. And they’re from SONIK.
Unlike other manufacturers, all of the beds in the XTI collection come with the same features and comfort – they just differ in size
The big questions
Sorry, it’s from who?
Yep, that’s not a typo or misprint. Late last year, the North Humberside-based company launched their new XTI range: a collection of top-end products, from bivvies and brollies to bags and nets, all which have been designed to take comfort, protection and user-ability on the bank in all weathers to a new level; setting a new benchmark for performance, functionality and long-term durability, and all at a realistic price tag that we’ve come to know and love from SONIK. And included in that range is this new line of beds – all of which exemplifies the XTI ethos: specifically designed to offer maximum comfort, style and practicality.
That mattress is 5cms thick!
So what can I expect?
A lot of comfort is what! The 5cm deep mattress and extra lumbar support which sits below that eliminates ‘bedchair backache’. They’re also extremely lightweight thanks to being built from a super lightweight, black anodised (which looks lovely by the way), aluminium frame.
The double hinge system ensures you lay totally flat
Let’s cut to the chase: will they last?
SONIK’s reputation for producing great products at very wallet-friendly prices is second-to-none. So now imagine how good these new products, which come under this more premium line, are? Yeah, exceptional. So to answer your question: yes, they will last, so buy with total confidence.
XTI: a sign of quality and reliabilitY
Okay, how do I know which one to pick?
Now this is something CARPology really loves about this new bedchair collection. Unlike other manufacturers, SONIK haven’t reduced the comfort level for the budget model. Nor have they used a cheaper, crappier material to reduce their cost price. All three of the XTI beds are made from the same super strong, yet extraordinarily lightweight frame. They all feature that doughy-embracing 5cm thick mattress. They all have the same totally flat profile, padded pillow area and all set-up and pack down in seconds (simply unclip the retaining strap, unfold and lie down). They only differ in terms of their size.
Padding isn’t sparse on the XTI beds!
Give me some stats then…
The Compact measures 200(L) x 78cm(W) and weighs 7.3kgs. The Standard comes in at 215(L) x 86cm(W) and 8kgs, whilst the Wide is the same length – 215cm – but is another 14cm wider at 100cm and weighs 8.5kgs. Now, if you won’t take our word for it, get Googling and you’ll soon discover these are the most impressive stats when it comes to size vs. weight ratios. And let’s not forget that two-inch thick mattress…
Sold. How much are we talking?
As usual with SONIK, less than you think. The Compact retails for £169.99; the Standard comes in at £189.99, whilst the Wide will set you back £209.99. All fair money in our eyes when you consider what you’re getting in return. Take a bow, SONIK.
