Smart packing
CARPology.net take a first-look at Avid Carp’s new and totally bespoke luggage collection: Tuned
The default item for lugging all your gear around, for most of us anyway, is the carryall. It’s been that for decades – more so since the widespread appeal of barrows, but until now it’s been a very unorganised way to store your tackle… And then came along the Tuned range.
It’s the brainchild of Avid Carp’s Product Developer Mat Woods, and is a monstrous collection of carryalls, pouches, wallets and air-dry bags – all of which is made from a super-hardwearing 600 denier material and features some stunning detailing: sumptuous leather zip pullers and super padded carry straps for example. Each of Tuned items all pack perfectly and neatly together, allowing you to create your own bespoke carrying/packing system. Here’s how it all shapes up… avidcarp.com
Carryalls
Whilst there are two sizes available – Standard and Large – the actual design principle is the same on both: they’re shallower than most other carryalls and this means it’s easier to get your gear into and out of. The fully padded frame keeps your gear safe, whilst the specially designed size means all the pouches and accessory bags fit neatly inside.
“GIMME”: £37.99 and £42.99
Tackle pouches
Three sizes to cover three needs. The Small Tackle Pouch is ideal for leads, baiting tools or as a PVA pouch, whilst the Medium and Large are perfect as a standard tackle box (Medium for the Christian Kessler clones; Large for Ian Russell lookalikes). All feature fully padded walls, removable internal dividers for flexible tackle storage and are all stackable with numerous other Tuned accessory bags.
“GIMME”: £7.99, £9.99 and £14.99
Rubber Air-Dry Bags
Unlike a traditional air-dry bag, these semi-ridged, rubberised mesh framed retain their shape to fit in with the other Tuned items. Three sizes – Small (15.5 x 15.5 x 6cm), Medium (19 x 35 x 11cm) and Large (32 x 24 x 15.5cm) will cover whatever quantities you require whilst keeping your bait super fresh thanks to the built-in hanging straps.
“GIMME”: £5.99, £8.99 and £9.99
Rig wallet
Be as prepared as CARPology’s resident rig pro, Mat Woods thanks to this super rigid rig wallet. The high density foam and supplied pins will house 20 rigs, whilst the heavy-duty zip will keep your rigs safe and dry.
“GIMME”: £9.99
Chod Rig Bag
Storing pre-tied Chod Rigs is a pain. The same goes for Zig Rigs. Thankfully Avid have an answer with this Tuned compatible bag. The foam spools not only house your Chods, but they’ll also add in that oh so important curve. Along with two dividers and padded walls there are two internal pockets for small rig items, such as Bait Screws and putty.
“GIMME”: £11.99
Buzz bar pouch
You’ve spent the best part of five hundred quid on those alarms and lushest carbon bars and sticks so don’t just sling them into your main carryall. This fully padded, Tuned compatible pouch has four Velcro webbing loops for holding your bars and sticks in place during transit.
“GIMME”: £11.99

Designed for storing bait (ready-prepared Sticks, bags, etc.), items of tackle or tea bags or coffee, they come in four different sizes with the Large and XL versions featuring a removable inner tray and all having semi-see-through lids. Small: 0.5 pint; Medium: 1 pint; Large: 2 pints; XL: 3 pints.
