Team Vass 175 Khaki Edition Smock

Outerwear doesn’t get more hardy than Vass and outerwear doesn’t get tested any harder than by James Armstrong...

“I forget the amount of times that I have been caught out in a downpour. The main reason is that I rarely take a jacket, unless of course it is raining before the session and I am prepared. Not anymore though! The Khaki Edition Smock is a bit of me: it packs down to the size of a small lunchbox meaning that I can store it in the side of my rucksack pocket - always poised and ready to battle the elements.

“The material is unique. It boasts a stretchy Vass-Tex 175 which allows a nice comfortable fit, particularly when casting and roaming around the lake in the rain. Furthermore, the material doesn’t absorb the rain droplets so it stays lightweight throughout a rainy day.

“The elasticated cuffs, and also around the midriff, make it a very snug fit in the right areas and keep the jacket in place, preventing any rain getting into unwanted places. Many jackets I have experienced are also overly warm, and I find myself sweating buckets in them. There’s nothing worse than sweating in the rain, luckily, this smock is breathable.

“Another thing that has been thought about when designing the garment is wearing it with the hood up. Many anglers like to pull the hood over their heads to keep dry. Well, there is a neat little peak at the front of the hood to deflect any rain and keep the shape so that you can keep watching the water, or keep your concentration playing a fish, even in the heaviest of downpours. If you are not a hood fan, this can be folded into the collar to keep it out the way! The Smock dries out really quickly too, so once you’ve used it you can simply hang up for a few minutes and it’ll dry.

“The khaki colour blends in with the surroundings, keeping you nicely camouflaged from any marginal feeding fish. Finally, the Smock is machine washable and you don’t need to re-proof the material overtime either!”
