Wychwood Packsmart MKII Rucksack
Not content with having a truly ingenious rucksack system, the Packsmart MKI, Wychwood thought they could improve it further. The result is a sight to behold…
Those clever folk at Wychwood really did go back to the drawing board when conceiving the original Packsmart Modular Rucksack. Rather than simply fall into line and design yet another conventional rucksack, they exploded the guts of your average rucksack into a crazy system that allows supreme access to your kit, which is a big step forward, right? Rather than groping in the dark recesses of a standard model, you can throw open the inner workings of the Packsmart to browse its contents at leisure. So, why a MK2 then?
1. It’s more hench!
The design geeks took the original Packsmart and beefed it up, so that the MKII is a stronger beast altogether! The back piece and shoulder straps are now more thickly padded and now have improved lumbar support. Chuck in new chest and waist buckles and you’ve got one comfy rucksack.
2. It’s now all-weather
Hidden in a secret pocket at the base of the back piece, you’ll find a waterproof cover that you can pull over the entirety of the rucksack. So, if you’re on a day session with no brolly, or halfway through a move when the rain rolls in, Wychwood has literally got you covered!
3. You can now stay connected
Now, it might seem a small thing, but the handy little phone pocket that the guys have added to the front of the shoulder straps will leave your phone easily accessible while you walk, and save you from frantically patting all your pockets to locate it!
4. The system’s the same though
Now, for all the nice changes, the great thing is that MKII retains ALL the genius features of the original. Once you’re in the swim, all is revealed, literally! Three separate chambers unclip and open outwards, giving you access to all three, as well as the main compartment.
5. Low profile
Unlike most rucksacks out there, the Packsmart MKII will easily slide under your bedchair once opened out fully. That gives you much more room to store other essentials at the head end of the bedchair. Brolly users take note!
