Three Greedy Pig Rigs to try

The idea of putting two or three hookbaits on the same Hair isn’t a new idea, but it is one that not many anglers actually carry out. Top angler, Tim Wagner has though, and his results over the last five years have been nothing short of incredible. Here are his top three Greedy Pig presentations – perfect for singling out the larger carp in your lake - get on one of them now!

Big Fish Rig 1

“The Christmas Tree Rig is tied using a large size 4 hook to allow for the large hookbait. A 25mm bottom bait is put onto the Hair first followed by a 20mm pop-up. The next two baits that go onto the Hair are a 15mm and then finished off with a small 10mm bait.

“The hook is designed to sit flat on the bottom with the hookbait sat on top of the hook on the lakebed. This really is the ultimate in a big hookbait and it will definitely ensure that only the carp with the biggest gob get to suck the whole lot in however greedy they may be.”

Big Fish Rig 2

“The Caterpillar, theoretically, could be used with any size baits from small to large, but either way, it most certainly sorts out the larger fish.

“The bait presentation itself is very simple and is basically two bottom baits and one pop-up all of the same size. The baits are put onto the Hair with the pop-up being positioned in the middle. You need to have a very buoyant pop-up so that it can lift itself in-between the two bottom baits so that it actually looks jointed and not just three baits sat on the bottom.”

Big Fish Rig 3

“I call this the Scorpion. Two 15mm bottom baits are first put onto the Hair andthey aretrapped in place by a small split shot either a BB or a No.1. This shot acts as a break in the Hair, which enables the baits to sit at a right angle from each other but it also helps to keep the pop-ups pinned down.

“The next thing is to thread two 15mm pop-ups onto the Hair. When this bait is presented in the water you should have the two bottom baits sat on the bottom and then the two pop-ups coming off and rising up at a right angle. ”
